# Privacy Policy — Lock Coach

Last updated: September 27, 2026

> **In short:** Lock Coach needs no account and has no servers of its own. Your camera picture is analyzed on your phone and is never uploaded. Bluetooth connects only to your own computer. The only data that leaves your phone goes to Google (ads), RevenueCat (purchase checks) and the app store you use (Google Play or the App Store), and only for those purposes.

## Who we are

Lock Coach is an unofficial, fan-made helper for the lockpicking minigame of Gothic 1 Remake. It is not affiliated with THQ Nordic or Alkimia Interactive. The app is made by Denis Perepelitsyn, who is responsible for how your data is handled (the “controller” under the EU and UK GDPR). Contact: fropsas@gmail.com.

## What stays on your phone

**Camera.** The camera looks at the lockpicking minigame on your screen. Frames are analyzed in the app's memory on your phone. They are not saved, uploaded or shared. The app does not use the microphone.

**Run logs.** For each “PC (Bluetooth)” run, the app writes a small text log to its own storage: timings, what it recognized, which keys it sent, and your phone model and system browser (WebView) version. It helps with troubleshooting. The log contains no images, and the app never sends it anywhere. The app keeps at most 30 logs (40 MB in total) and deletes the oldest ones automatically.

**Developer option.** A hidden developer setting, off by default, can save camera frames to the app's own storage folder for debugging. The app never uploads them.

**Motion sensor.** While the camera is on, the app may read your phone's motion sensor to skip blurred frames. On iPhone, the system may ask for your permission first. The readings are used only on the phone.

**Bluetooth.** In “PC (Bluetooth)” mode, your phone works as a Bluetooth keyboard for your own computer and sends only a short, fixed set of keys that the minigame uses. To connect:

- on Android, the app shows the devices already paired with your phone, and it can make your phone visible to nearby Bluetooth devices for a few minutes after you confirm in a system dialog;
- on iPhone, the app announces itself to nearby devices as “Lock Coach Keyboard” while this mode is on.

The app remembers your computer's Bluetooth name and address so it can reconnect. On iPhone, it also keeps a small Bluetooth troubleshooting log (up to 64 KB). None of this is sent to us or anyone else.

**Settings and opens.** Your settings (language, button icons, vibration and sound), free and purchased opens, subscription status and a record of purchases already credited are stored only in the app's storage on your phone. If you uninstall the app, all of this is deleted, including unused purchased opens. A subscription can be restored with “Restore purchases”.

**Backups.** If system backup is turned on (Google backup on Android, iCloud or computer backup on iPhone), your phone may include this app's data in that backup. Such backups live in your own account under Google's or Apple's terms. We cannot access them.

## What leaves your phone

**Ads (Google AdMob).** Watching rewarded videos is optional: three watched ads earn one open. Ads are provided by Google AdMob. When the app starts, it loads Google's ads software and checks with Google whether a consent form is needed where you are. To do this, and to show, measure and protect ads against fraud, Google may process your IP address, device and app information, your interactions with ads and, on Android, your device's advertising ID.

- **Consent.** If you are in a region where consent is required (such as the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), the app shows Google's consent form when it starts. You can change your choice at any time in **Settings → Legal → Privacy policy → Ad and consent settings**. Depending on your choice, Google shows personalized, non-personalized or limited ads.
- **Android:** you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings.
- **iPhone:** the app does not ask for permission to track you (App Tracking Transparency), so Google's software cannot access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA).

- [How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services](https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites)

**Purchases (Google Play, App Store, RevenueCat).** Packs of opens and the weekly subscription are sold through Google Play on Android and through the App Store on iPhone. Google or Apple handles the payment, and we never receive your card details. To check purchases and your subscription status, the app contacts RevenueCat when it starts and when you buy or restore. RevenueCat receives a random ID created by the app (not your name or email), details of the purchase (such as the product, price, date and store receipt) and technical data such as your IP address, platform and app version. We can see these transaction records (such as product, price, date and country) in RevenueCat and in the store consoles.

- [Apple's privacy policy](https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/)

**Nothing else.** The app has no analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools of our own and no servers of our own. We never receive your camera images, Bluetooth data, settings or logs. The app does not use your location, contacts or photos.

## Permissions the app asks for

- **Camera:** to see the lockpicking minigame on your screen.
- **Bluetooth / Nearby devices:** only for “PC (Bluetooth)” mode.
- **Internet:** for ads and purchases only. Everything else works offline.
- **Vibration:** short signals during a run (Android grants this without asking).
- **Motion** (iPhone only, if the system asks): to skip blurred frames.

You can refuse any permission. Only the feature that needs it stops working.

## Legal bases (EEA and UK)

- **Providing the app** (on-device processing, purchases and restoring them): performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Keeping sales records where the law requires it: Art. 6(1)(c).
- **Personalized ads, and storing or reading information on your device for ads:** your consent, Art. 6(1)(a), collected through Google's consent form. You can withdraw it at any time as described above.
- **Non-personalized or limited ads**, which keep a free option available, and **answering your emails:** our legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f).

## International transfers

Google, Apple and RevenueCat may process data in the United States and other countries, under the safeguards described in their own privacy policies.

## How long data is kept

- **On your phone:** until you delete it or uninstall the app. Run logs are rotated automatically, as described above.
- **RevenueCat:** purchase records for our app are kept until we delete them. We will do so on request.
- **Google and Apple:** according to their own policies.
- **Your emails to us:** only as long as needed to handle your request.

## Your choices and rights

You can refuse permissions, change your ad consent, reset your advertising ID (Android), or uninstall the app to remove everything it stored on your phone.

If the GDPR or similar laws apply to you, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, move or object to the processing of your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority. We have no accounts and no servers, so we usually cannot link any data to you. If you would like your purchase records at RevenueCat deleted, email us the order number from your Google Play or App Store receipt, and we will find and delete them. For ad data, see Google's links above. For data held by Google Play or the App Store, contact Google or Apple.

## Children

Lock Coach is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has used the app's purchases or ads and want something removed, contact us.

## This website

This website is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics, ads, tracking pixels or other third-party content: fonts and images are served from this site itself, and there are no forms. The only thing the site stores is your language choice, kept in your browser's local storage so the site does not keep offering you another language. It never leaves your browser. As with any website, the hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, page requested and time) for security and operation. We do not use them to identify or track you. The Google Play and App Store buttons are ordinary links. Once you follow them, those stores' privacy policies apply.

## Changes

When the app or this website changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page and the policy text inside the app. The date at the top shows the latest version.
